A lightweight, compact, adjustable repair stand offered at an inexpensive price. Although lacking is some areas compared to more expensive stands, this stand gets the job done.

Features & Benefits

The Aluminum Cycle Pro Mechanic Bicycle Repair Stand Rack Bike is a foldable, full alloy aluminum workstand. The rubberized clamp head rotates 360 degress and is quick release adjustable. The Aluminum Cycle Pro stand can adjust to a height of almost 60 inches. It can hold up to 55 lbs and comes with an attahcable magnetic parts tray.

Lightweight

The Aluminum Cycle Pro Mechanic Bicycle Repair Stand’s aluminum construction means that it weighs in around 11 lbs. If you need a stand that can go with you to events, this one won’t break your back–or the bank.

Compact

This aluminum stand also quickly folds down around 40 by 7.5 inches for compact storage or travel.

With these features in mind, let’s discuss our testing.

Testing the Aluminum Cycle Pro Mechanic Bicycle Repair Stand

Before you buy a bike repair stand, there are a few things you’ll want to look at. For example, you’ll want to look at how stable the stand is and can it hold up your bike without tipping or wobbling. Next, you need to look at the main clamp to see if it will rotate to the positions you need and whether or not it will hold your bike without slipping. Finally, if you are looking at foldable stands, you’ll want to look at how easily it sets up and folds down and how compact it becomes when folded down. While testing the Aluminum Cycle Pro Mechanic Bicycle Repair Stand, we kept these things in mind to give you the best idea of how this cheaper stand “stands” up to other stands out there.

Our Findings

For a cheaper stand, overall we were impressed with the Aluminum Cycle Pro Mechanic Bicycle Repair Stand. It was easy to set up right out of the box and it only took a couple of minutes to attach the included magnetic tool tray. We like the aluminum construction and noted that it won’t rust if someone is using this stand frequently to wash bikes. We mounted several differect types on this stand including road bikes and heavier mountain bikes. We found that because you have to screw tighten the clamp before using the quick release, it made it a bit cumbersome to mount some bikes, especially when you are holding the bike one handed while tightening the screw. However, once mounted the stand had no problem holding most bikes. We could mount on the seat tube and top tube of most bikes. However, with heavier bikes the stand did seem a bit tippy. At one point, after removing the back tire, the whole stand and bike tipped forward. This could be due to the fact that the stand only has two legs. One of our testers found that putting sand bags on the legs could help the stand be more stable. The main head clamp rotates to accomodate different positions and is made of hard plastic and rubber. We found that in a normal horizontal position with the bike centered on the stand, the clamp had no trouble holding the bike. However it struggled to hold the bike in a vertical position and slipped. Also, without sandbags to weight the legs, the stand would tip with the bike in that position. We are concerned also about the clamp’s ability to hold bikes after more use due to its plastic construction. When finished using the stand it does fold down to a more compact size than other stands out there and it is lightweight enough to take to different events. We think that for a cheaper price, it’s not a bad stand and will get the job done despite some stability issues and plastic components that may wear out over time.

Rating: We’ve given the Aluminum Cycle Pro Mechanic Bicycle Repair Stand a 4.4 star rating. Plastic components and its tendancy to be a bit tippy with heavier bikes in non-centered positions.
